Photo exhibition in Frankfurt am Main 24.06.2023

On Saturday June 24th 2023, I had the opportunity to exhibit my pictures. I chose to take pictures from the FishAct Tunisia campaign last November 2022, where I was part of the team there and had photographed my impressions and the situation in the ports of the Gulf of Gabès. It was a follow-up campaign to a research in Tunisia in 2018 on the topic: Kiss-trawling.

At the exhibition, I decided on a small series of three images. These told in short form, why we were in Tunisia. I had also designed a magazine that could be flipped through that evening.

It was a wonderful evening to get in touch with people. My series attracted a lot of people and the magazine generated a lot of interest. It is nice to have real conversations with people again after the long time with Covid restrictions. The dialogue between me and the visitors was rooted in actual conversations rather than talking over one another as seen on the internet. I was able to listen to some exciting opinions and was very pleased that no one I spoke to was left untouched.

This evening I was able to combine two great passions – photography and environmental protection. I look forward to the next event. I would like to say a big thank you to the whole team at Lokal-Coffee, Artists & Drinks in Frankfurt am Main, thank you so much for the special evening and also a special thank you to Mendy Meinhardt for this opportunity.

I am also grateful to FishAct for the opportunity to have been part of such a campaign. From the very beginning, you are an equal member at FishAct like everyone else. That means you can come around with the craziest ideas you feel like. True to the motto: anything is possible. Making mistakes is part of it and has given me the opportunity to try out a lot in the past and learn in the process. That’s what makes working for FishAct so special for me.
